Sally Abrams, Grade 7 and 8 Hebrew Teacher (BA in nutrition and BA in Hebrew Language, University of Minnesota), left a career as a nutritionist and health educator to return to college and learn Hebrew. She taught Hebrew and worked with the Education Bridge program at the Twin Cities Jewish Middle School for seven years before joining the Day School faculty in 2007. For the last several years Sally has been the chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council's Israel advocacy speakers bureau. She loves visiting Israel and tries to get there once a year. Sally and her husband have four kids—three in college this year!

Elly Becker, Grade 7 and 8 Social Studies Teacher (BA in Judaic Studies and BS in Elementary Ed., Univ. of Minn.; graduate coursework in building classroom communities and middle school education at Hamline Univ.), is entering her 20th year at the Day School. Elly lived in Israel for five years and considers the experience formative in shaping her outlook and values. She loves to travel, meet people and enjoy new adventures. Elly has visited 41 and a half states and has her sights set on the remaining 8 and a half. She has a passion for the political process and has worked as a volunteer on a number of local and national races.

Davida Cytron, Grade 7 and 8 Math Teacher (BA in History and Hebrew, University of Wisconsin, Madison; MA in Early Adolescent Education, Bank Street College of Education),
is excited to be back for her third year at the day school, and is thrilled to have both her children join her at HMJDS this year. In addition to teaching 7th and 8th grade math, she serves as an advisor in the Upper School. Prior to coming to the day school, Davida taught fourth grade at Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School in Chicago. In her spare time, Davida enjoys reading, doing yoga and cooking.
Daniel Ettedgui, Grade 7 Judaic Studies Teacher (BS in Education, Univ. of Minn.), has worked with Jewish children and teenagers (ages 8-18) at the Minneapolis Talmud Torah. He studied Hebrew at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and is currently a graduate student at Gratz College of Philadelphia. Danny has also served as Department Head of Talmud Torah's Beit Midrash and was Saturday morning Program Director at Sharei Chesed Synagogue.
Rani Halpern, Grade 7 and 8 Visual Art Teacher (BA, Univ of Michigan, Masters degree, Washington University), brings extensive experience teaching visual arts at the Twin Cities Jewish Middle School. She is a well-known local freelance artist specializing in ketubot and papercutting. She was a finalist for a Bush Artist Fellowship this year.
Nancy Joseph-Goldfarb, Grade 7 and 8 Language Arts Teacher (BA, Brown University; MA in ESL and course work for PhD in Curriculum and Instruction, Univ. of Minn.), taught language arts at the Twin Cities Jewish Middle School prior to joining the Day School. She has taught English literature; reading, writing, speaking and study skills to new immigrants and second-language students at the University of Minnesota; and teacher preparation courses at Hamline University and the University of Minnesota. She also administered a program for international students at the University of Minnesota.
Dorothy Richmond, Grade 7 and 8 Spanish teacher, arrives with over twenty years’ teaching experience, with several years each at the middle school, high school, and university levels. She has authored twelve Spanish text and reference books, and has been an author for McGraw-Hill since 1991. She holds degrees in linguistics, philosophy, and educational administration. Mrs. Richmond lives in Minneapolis with her husband and two daughters.

Christina Schulte, Grades 7 and 8 Drama Teacher ( William Woods Univ., BFA in Theater), participated in “The Broadway Semester” program living and working in NYC. She has worked at Dudley Riggs and also as a teaching instructor for Mad Science of Minnesota. In the summer, she teaches a Life Skills course to middle school boys. Christina performs actively at the community theater level and is a board member of Off-Broadway Musical Theater, a non-profit theater group producing outdoor summer Broadway musicals in conjunction with the City of New Hope in Minnesota. She currently resides in Minneapolis with her husband and son.
